Meet Our Counselors!
All of our Counselors are volunteers for Special People Camp! It’s our favorite week of the year!
Mike: Co-Dean
Mike has been a counselor at Special People Camp for over 30 years! He started out as a junior counselor, and just recently has become co-dean. Every year you’ll catch him wearing a Hawaiian shirt at the dance!
Jerry: Co-Dean
Jerry has been a counselor for over 20 years! He’s always quick to give a helping hand wherever needed!
Curt: Activity Lead
Curt has been a counselor for 30+ years, and started out as a junior counselor! You’ll catch him leading the daily activities and the Talent Night. He also likes to prank his fellow counselors to keep them on their toes!
Amy: Activity Lead
Amy started out as a Junior Counselor over 20 years ago! You’ll catch her often leading the campers in song at the nightly bonfire or dancing horribly during the Talent Night and Dance.
Sue: Registration Administrator
Sue has been coming to camp for over 20 years! She is the go-to guru for all registration forms and questions and makes sure the camp runs smoothly every year!
Chloe & Jane: Nurses
These two ladies are rockstars at camp! They ensure check-in day is painless, and help the campers throughout the week with their medications and any other health concerns!
Karen: The Craft Lady
Karen has recently taken the reigns of our arts and crafts lady! She helps create new crafts each year for the campers to make and bring home at the end of the week.
Cindy and Mary Ann: Bingo Extraordinaires
Both Mary Ann and Cindy have been going to camp for a very long time! Cindy goes before camp to get all of the Bingo and Carnival prizes, and Mary Ann ensures Bingo runs smoothly at camp! The campers love their Bingo!
Our Men Counselors: Andy, Nolan, Steve
Often times recruited to do an N’sync dance routine at the Talent Night, these guys are always excited to help out and have fun with our campers!
Our Women Counselors: Tia, Kyrah, Anna, Mykeal
All of these wonderful ladies started out as Junior Counselors years ago! They have no problem jamming out to 90’s music in the bathroom as they help the campers get glammed up for the dance on Wednesday Night!
